      Consumer Review: HTC DNA

Opinion Piece Author: Kris Russo, NBC25 Account Executive

PhoneThe Verizon Wireless HTC DNA has an amazing HD display along with a slew of other features that are impressive when comparing it to its compeditors.

The Verizon Wireless HTC DNA will link Facebook data (contact??s photo and profile info). There is also a favorites list that can be used as one of your five screens. Having it set up as a widget makes it quick one touch access to dial some of your favorite people!

DesignThe Verizon Wireless HTC DNA is powered by a 1.5GHz Quad-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor which is extremely fast and also helps with battery life, not to mention the 4G LTE network behind it. It does have 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory.

Looking at the device, screen on top, the power/sleep button is right in the middle, the volume toggle is on the upper right side and charging port is in the center on the bottom under a door cover. On the left side at the top next to the power/sleep toggle is a 3.5mm headphone jack. The SIM card slot is on the top right side that needs a special tool to open it, which comes with the device, just make sure not to misplace it. This phone also has red speakers built into each side of the device powered by a 2.55v amplifier, this makes listening to music on it an amazing experience.

The Verizon Wireless HTC DNA has 16GB of internal storage; however, what is actually formatted is going to be about 11GB.

DisplayThe Verizon Wireless HTC DNA screen is a 5.0?? 1080p Super LCD3 resolutions covered in Gorilla Glass 2. The phone is great with all sort of viewing angles however falls short with any sort of sunlight around, makes it hard to see the screen, but in its defense, that is the case with most smart phones.

This is the first of its kind that has a full 1080p display. This phone offers 1080x1920 and 440 pixels per inch - and it is thought that that higher this is the worse it would be on the battery and even the performance. How does this affect the battery life and performance? Keep reading to find out.

CameraThe Verizon Wireless HTC DNA camera is an 8 megapixel with a 28mm lens on the rear of the devise with auto focus and a single LED flash. The camera also has HTC ImageClip which is new software which allows for continuous shooting for up to 99 images. The 2.1 megapixel wide front-facing camera it makes it simple to take pictures as well as video chat with your friends and also includes different resolutions to make it easier to send videos in different formats. The camera is one of the best that is seen on a phone these days, but no surprise there everything is always improving.

Battery LifeSmart-phone users have concluded by now that no matter the phone in use it will have to charge every day. However, with each new phone release the batteries seem to get better and last longer.

The Verizon Wireless HTC DNA has a 2020mAh Standard Li-Ion non-removable battery and it runs the first of its kind Quad-Core processor so that does help with the battery life. It does however depend on how it??s used how long it will last. If it is running on Wifi it could last all day easily however if it runs on 4G all day it seemed to last about 8 hours before it needed to be charged.

The Verizon Wireless HTC DNA does have a really awesome feature to be charged wirelessly but the charging pad is sold separately.

InterfaceVerizon Wireless HTC DNA is running the latest version the Jelly Bean 4.1.1. It can run over 150,000 apps that are available on the Android market. It will be getting the 4.2 Jelly Bean updates sometime soon so don??t fret over it.

The phone never slowed and scrolling between pages or up and down long lists happened without hesitation. It is by far the fastest most powerful phone on the market today. The only thing that this device has stacked against it is its memory, or lack thereof. There is no MicroSD slot available for adding more memory to the phone.

WebVerizon Wireless HTC DNA has a pinch-zoom feature for web pages it allows for zooming in and out as much as needed. There is a nice screen shot of bookmarked pages, and they can all be viewed in landscape or vertical configurations. That makes it easy to jump to the favorite pages easily.

ConclusionThe Verizon Wireless HTC DNA is an amazing device right out of the box?|.putting the Samsung Galaxy GS III and the DNA side by side it would be a tough call which one to choose. They are both by far the best devices to date.
