Before the Bell: Positivity Project
GRAND BLANC, Mich. --For some local school teachers and staff, the start of school actually began before their first day in the classroom.
In the Grand Blanc school district, over a thousand of them were recently sent out into the community to take part in a first-of-its-kind training in Michigan: The Positivity Project.
According to local project coordinator, and Indian Hill Elementary School Principal Jeremy Mitchell, “The Positivity Project is a social movement that’s hoping to teach kids about character.”
Outfitted in identical green t-shirts, all of them took to the streets of the Grand Blanc area for what was a hands-on boot camp to learn and experience, for themselves, 24 character traits that national Positivity Project creators say live within all of us.
“If they’re in all of us, Mitchell went on to say, “Then they’ve got to be in this community somewhere.”
The mission of the teachers and staff was to search the community for those qualities, experience them first hand and then head back to the classroom to instill them in their students.
