How to keep your home's air fresh and clean year round
Heating and air-conditioning systems keep families warm in the winter, cool in the summer, but do little to improve air quality in your home.
A total Heating & Cooling system should include a furnace, air filter, humidifier, air freshening unit and air conditioner.
Not having a complete system, especially an air freshening unit, can cause circulation of harmful contaminated air throughout your home, causing what is called in the profession as “sick house syndrome”.
A Make-Up air unit, or an ‘air freshening’ unit, works very simply and is actually required in all new homes that are being built. Here’s how it works.
When the furnace blower operates, the damper in the air freshening control opens, automatically pulling outside air into the furnace.
The air is then cleaned by the filters, heated or cooled, and circulated through the duct system.
As a result, a slight pressure build-up in the home, preventing unwanted air filtration around windows and doors, and more importantly, gives you fresh air to breathe all year round!
