Community Wide: Bringing much-needed playgrounds to the kids of Flint
Hundreds of members of the community came together last summer to build a new plays pace for the kids at Berston Field House on the north side of Flint.
It’s a start.
Based on National Recreation and Park Association standards for park amenities per capita, the city of Flint needs 36 more playgrounds to achieve those standards.
Starting with that build last August, local organizations are working towards that goal.
Partnered with the United Way of Genesee County, the make an impact foundation along with other community organizations to bring two more playgrounds to Flint this summer.
Broome Park on the city's southwest side, and Hasselbring Park on the northwest side are the locations, so watch our story to hear from United Way president Jamie Gaskin and catch a glimpse at why.
