A prosecutor's review is planned after authorities say a 12-year-old boy was fatally shot by a friend during a sleepover in Michigan.
Sanilac County Sheriff Garry Biniecki tells the Times Herald of Port Huron that another 12-year-old boy called 911 after the shooting about 8:20 p.m. Saturday in Marlette Township, roughly 65 miles north of Detroit. He says the boy who was shot died at the scene.
The friend was released into the custody of his father and Biniecki says a report about the shooting will be reviewed by the county prosecutor's office.
Authorities say a long gun was used and no adults were home at the time. Names of those involved weren't immediately released.
