18 candidates running to be Flint’s next mayor

FLINT, Mich. – The recall effort against Flint’s mayor has led to a very crowded race in November.

The ballot will contain a total of 18 candidates, including Mayor Karen Weaver.

Notable names include long-time 9th Ward city councilman Scott Kincaid, former Flint School Board member David Davenport, and recall organizer Arthur Woodson.

Potential candidates had to either pay $100 or collect enough valid signatures, between 40 and 80, by Aug. 14 submission deadline to appear on the ballot.

The winner of November’s election will serve the remainder Weaver’s current term.

In addition to choosing a mayor, all nine of Flint's council seats are up for election.
