2 men face trial in women's abduction, torture

A judge has ordered that two Upper Peninsula men stand trial in the abduction, torture and rape of two women in the basement of a business.

Ishpeming police say one of the women was able to get a cellphone and call 911, and officers found the women duct-taped to support posts in the basement of a business July 2nd.

Forty-three-year-old Jason Sadowski and 65-year-old Charles Cope are charged with torture and kidnapping. Sadowski also is charged with criminal sexual conduct and solicitation to murder.

The Mining Journal of Marquette says the 44- and 30-year-old women met Sadowski at a bar and agreed to accompany him.

Police say Sadowski later asked one woman to kill the other.

Sadowski remains jailed without bond, while Cope is in jail with a $500,000 bond.
