The troubles seem to be mounting at the Tanger Outlets in West Branch.
First heavy snow caused a store's roof to collapse. Later the whole shopping center was shut down. Now the company that owns the outlets says it will be forced to demolish two stores, while the center remains closed.
The company released this statement this morning:
"We continue to take steps to ensure safety at Tanger Outlets West Branch after last week??s partial roof collapse. In concert with opinions of local officials, engineers and vendors it was decided that the two damaged stores, Polo Ralph Lauren and Hanes Brands, will undergo demolition to prevent further damage to the center. At this time, our center remains closed as our Operations Team and officials continue to assess additional steps needed protect the center. We appreciate the ongoing cooperation of our employees and retailers as well as the patience of our loyal customers and the local community. We will continue to provide more clarity about this situation as updates become available" .
