2,000 gallon water giveaway coming to Flint

Due to inclement weather, the free water giveaway has been rescheduled. The water giveaway will now happen on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015, starting at 10 a.m. ET, at the same two locations listed below.

There is another bottle giveaway to be held in Flint, Monday, Feb. 2.

Congressman Dan Kildee announced today that he will be partnering with community and labor organizations to distribute 2,000 gallons of free water to Flint residents.

Along with Congressman Kildee, Meijer, Catholic Charities and the United Auto Workers (UAW) are also sponsors for the 2,000 gallon giveaway.

Congressman Kildeeâ??s announcement is a day after hundreds surrounded Sargeant's Title Company for free case bottled water.

â??Access to quality water is a basic human right and I am happy to partner with community organizations to ensure that every Flint resident has access to safe and drinkable water,â?? Congressman Kildee said. â??Over the past weeks, my office has been in touch with local officials to offer assistance to the city in seeking federal or state support in order to address the ongoing water issue. We are also happy to facilitate meetings with federal agencies for technical assistance and to discuss other potential funding sources to make improvements in the water delivery system.â??

Here is what you need to know:

Flint cut its Detroit water ties last year and is getting tap water from the Flint River.

Residents have complained about the smell, and the federal government has cited Flint for high levels of a disinfectant by-product.

The city says the water is safe. It's building a line to Lake Huron.
