A child was pulled over for driving a car in Huron County Monday.
The Sheriff TMs Department reports Dispatch got a tip of a suspicious driver in Kinde Road in Caseville Township around 10:15 a.m. They soon realized the driver was a 6 or 7 year old boy.
Authorities tracked down the red Pontiac Sunfire, and tried to get the kid to pull over. The child finally moved to the side of the road, but had a hard time getting the door unlocked and putting the car in park. Officials were finally able to calm him down enough to get him to unlock the door, and they were able to put the vehicle in park.
The boy said he was leaving his step-father TMs home in the Sheridan Twp. area to go to his dad TMs house in the Filion area. Authorities say he must have traveled about 20 miles before they stopped him.
Deputies contacted the boy TMs mother. She said she didn TMt realize he was missing, since she had worked the night shift. The frantic mother was picked up by a Deputy and taken to the scene, where she and the child were reunited.
The child's stepfather tells the Detroit Free Press he doesn't understand why the child tried to drive to his father's home. The boy had just seen his father the day before.
The mother and child met with DHS. Officials have charged the little boy as a juvenile with unlawful use of a vehicle.
The case is still being investigated by officials.
