An official says workers involved in blight elimination efforts in Flint found 12 dead dogs dumped in the middle of a street in trash bags.
Flint spokesman Jason Lorenz says the dogs were found Monday morning and the animals may have been used in dog fighting. There are no occupied homes on the block where the dogs were found, which has trash, tires and furniture strewn along the street.
Police Chief James Tolbert says it wasn't immediately known how the dogs died. Tips are being sought by police. The Genesee County Humane Society also is investigating.
On Saturday in Detroit, officials said the remains of three dogs were found at River Rouge Park following earlier reports of other dead dogs at the park.
