Missing endangered teen from Saugatuck area found in Iowa

Michigan State Police Wayland Post was searching for a missing endangered teen, police say she has been found safe in Iowa.

Michigan State Police from the Wayland Post, with the assistance of the Iowa State University Campus, were able to locate 16-year-old Joy Dene Martin and was found safe on the campus at Iowa State in Ames, Iowa.

Police say she was found in good health.

Police say Joy left home voluntarily in Fennville Michigan sometime Saturday after corresponding with an unknown person on the social media messenger app KIK. She may have left the state on a Greyhound bus.

Arrangements have been made to reconnect her with her family. The incident remains under investigation, and the Michigan State Police is working in conjunction with authorities at Iowa State.

MSP say they would like to remind parents to stay informed and be involved with electronic media their children use.
