Back to the Bricks founder and chairman announces he is retiring

Back to the Bricks founder and chairman Al Hatch made a surprise
announcement Friday morning that, after nine years, he is handing over the reigns to someone else.

Hatch has been the â??faceâ?? of Back to the Bricks since its inception in 2005.

During impromptu remarks during a Bricks Law Enforcement briefing, Hatch told reporters that long time committee member and Buick Club of America Assistant Director Roberta Vasilow will chair next yearâ??s event.

Hatch says he will continue to serve on the Back to the Bricks committee and has agreed to chair next yearâ??s Promotional Tour.

Prior to Hatchâ??s surprising announcement, members of the B2TB Law Enforcement Task Force briefed the media on safety plans for this yearâ??s event. â??Protocols are now in place to incorporate an even more expanded enforcement including the use of electronic surveillance devices and plain clothes officers to assist us in focusing on criminal activity, disruptive behavior, as well as any fire, medical and severe weather situations,â?? said Incident Commander FPD Lt. Collin Birnie.

â??Our message is simple,â?? he said. Whether participant or spectator, enjoy Back to the Bricks. Have a great time, have a fun time and have a safe time by being responsible.â??
