A new park is set to open on Monday in Vienna Township that was designed to be accessible to people with disabilities.
The park was the brainchild of Peter Chargo. He is a township Business Development Authority board member who has a son who is a quadriplegic.
He says there is no other such park in the area. It will be on land just off Interstate 75 that was donated by Vienna Town Square Properties several years ago.
Among the park amenities are benches, picnic tables, stainless steel charcoal grills and cement paths. Total cost for the project was about $60,000. The park also has two monarch butterfly gardens.
Playground equipment will be added next year. Restrooms may come later.
