Bay City comes together to discuss crumbling bridges
BAY CITY, Mich. - People who live and work in Bay City came together Monday to talk about the future of three crumbling Bay City bridges.
The goal of the meeting was for people to hear all about the options for dealing with the bridges.
Some of the options to fix the bridges includes asking the state for help, privatizing or even making one or more of the bridges a toll-bridge.
another option talked about would be to have a millage for bridge repairs instead of a toll.
People broke out into different groups to narrow things down and come up with a plan.
"We are going to get these smaller meetings going and I think we can come up with a solution in the next couple of months, I don’t want to drag it out the next 30 years cause we have already done that," said city commission president Andrew Niedzinski.
It was also brought up that the city could help offset repairs for the bridge by selling the naming rights to the bridges.
Others at the meeting flat out said right now there is no good strategy and a lot more work needs to be done.
