Bay Co. billboard calls attention to area Congressman’s response to Russian meddling
BAY COUNTY, Mich. --If you're driving outside Auburn, on U.S. 10 and Garfield road in Bay County, you may have noticed a new billboard that's popped up.
It's a billboard that challenges Representative John Moolenaar's response to Russian election meddling.
The billboard reads, "What is John Moolenaar doing to protect our elections against Russian attack? Ask him!"
This isn't the only one of its kind.
The billboard is part of a larger social media campaign by citizen's groups deeply concerned about the ongoing Russian attack on American democratic processes.
Many believe it's a serious threat to our constitution and self-rule.
Moolenaar's opposing candidates say the billboard is a sign that the citizens have had enough, and they want accountability and truth from their representative.
The John Moolenaar for Congress campaign responded to the billboard in the statement below:
"Congressman Moolenaar has taken many strong steps to strengthen our national security and oppose Russian interference and aggression. He is a supporter of American energy independence which lowers the price of Russia's top economic export and lowers the cost of gas for hardworking Michigan families. He has supported lethal military assistance to our allies in eastern Europe as they fight Russian aggression, he has voted for numerous sanctions on Vladimir Putin's government, and he has also voted for billions of dollars to protect our country from cyberattacks. In addition to all of that, he supported airstrikes on Russia's airfield in Syria, and he strongly opposed the Obama Administration's nuclear deal with Russia's deadliest ally, Iran, a state-sponsor of terrorism which received billions of dollars it now uses to attack our allies. Congressman Moolenaar will continue to oppose Russian aggression and support strong national security policies that protect our elections and keep our country safe."
