The Bay Concert Band kicked off four days of music last night with a special performance.
The band played the world premiere of a piece that honors a ship lost just last year.
Peter Makaari, the director of the Bay Concert Band said that the piece was commissioned in honor of The Bounty, a tall ship that was lost during superstorm Sandy last year. It is entitled "Legacy of the Bounty" and was composed by Kathryn McMichael.
Music will be a part of the Tall Ships Celebration throughout the weekend.
Friday through Sunday, maritime musicians will perform at both Wenonah and Veterans Memorial Park.
