Bay County water use emergency elevated

Bay City officials have upgraded their water use emergency.

Officials now saying, neighbors are prohibited from using water for purposes other than the maintenance of public health and safety.

Officials first reported a leak in the water system Saturday night, saying the water treatment plant showed a high demand.

24 hours later and officials still have not found the problem.

Water treatment officials tell NBC25 News that the Bay County water system has lost nearly 12 million gallons of water over the weekend.

The system is currently running off of reserve tanks.
