Birch Run Police take "precautionary measures" after reported "suspicious package"

Birch Run Police evacuated the Birch Run Premium Outlets and called in the bomb squad as a precaution after a store employee noticed what they thought was a "suspicious package" in a trash can.

Emergency Responders including the Michigan State Police Bomb Squad evacuated around 15 nearby outlets and the parking lot as they investigated.

The K-9 team also responded.

Officials cleared the scene a short time later and say that the item found in the trash was a "package" of some sort.

The outlets were reopened a short time later, however, have since been re-evacuated as authorities respond to an overturned tanker on I-75.
