Fri, 07 Feb 2014 10:46:00 GMT —
Another round of bitterly cold weather has settled in across Michigan, with temperatures dropping well below-zero.
The National Weather Service reports readings Friday morning of 8 below zero in Adrian, 6 below in Monroe and Sturgis, and 4 below in Sault Ste. Marie. With the wind, it can feel like 20 below or even colder.
Officials are urging caution.
The warmest readings Friday morning came in only at 10 degrees in western Michigan. In Detroit, it was around zero degrees.
Thursday's highs barely made into the 20s in a few spots after morning lows of minus 8 at Ironwood in the western Upper Peninsula and minus 7 at Port Huron in southeastern lower Michigan.
The cold comes after about 8 inches of snow fell on parts of southern Michigan.
The cold is leading to school closings in Mid-Michigan. You can see the complete list here.
