Boy Scouts collect for local food bank

The shelves at a local food bank are better stocked today thanks to some dedicated and caring young adults.

Area Cub and Boy Scouts canvassed local neighborhoods for non perishable items for the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.

This is the 27th event which, in past years, has collected almost 30,000 pounds of food just in Genesee County.

Grand Blanc's O'Dell family collected 100 lbs. of food.

Scouts went door to door last weekend dropping off empty bags for homeowners to fill and returned Sunday to pick them up.
