Boy sentenced to probation after shooting 11-year-old friend

A 12-year-old Sanilac County boy who pleaded guilty to reckless discharge of a firearm in the accidental fatal shooting of a friend has now received a sentence that includes 30 days in a detention facility.
The boy will serve 10 days in a facility now. After probation, it will be determined if he will serve the additional time.
The probation terms include living with his mother, being on a tether, community service, attending school, and a strict curfew. Restitution to the family of the victim also must be paid.
The boy pleaded guilty last month. His father pleaded guilty Monday to firearm possession by a felon and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Back in November of last year, Tyler Dunn was shot and killed in the Marlette Township home of the father and son. There was no adult at the home at the time of the shooting.
