The Buena Vista School District will likely be dissolved after leaders were unsuccessful in securing a last-minute bank loan by Monday.
Parents and students in the meantime can only speculate how they'll be affected.
Longtime Buena Vista resident Beatrice Tatum has been following the developments in Buena Vista schools since May, when the district shut down for two weeks. Her daughter, who was a senior at Buena Vista High School at the time, was able to graduate but Tatus said she's more concerned about her son, Miquel, who's about to enter high school. Tatum, like other Buena Vista pareants, is still waiting to hear where Miquel will be transferred next year.
â??It went from not meeting payroll to the district closed, all in two months. I mean, I don't feel like we were given a fair chance,â?? Tatum said.
Miquel said heâ??s anxious about going to a different school and being separated from the friends he grew up with.
â??Iâ??m gonna miss all the teachers, the friends, all the classes,â?? Miquel said.
The Saginaw Intermediate School District is responsible for transferring students to neighboring districts. SISD officials will be hosting a community forum on Wednesdsay from 6-8 p.m. at Buena Vista High School.
