Buena Vista police investigating man found shot dead in driveway

Neighbors say the victim had walked to the store just before he was shot.

Police in Buena Vista Township are investigating the shooting death of a 59-year old man.

Investigators say the victim was found in the driveway of his home on Hess near Cumberland Monday night around 11:00 p.m.

NBC25 spoke with a family member of Douglas Wright Tuesday night but they did not want to make any public comments.

Neighbors say Wright had walked to a store up the street from his home shortly before he was found shot in his driveway.

Steve Saldana, who lives near Wright, said he walks the same route that Wright took the night he was shot.

"I used to go to the store around 7:00 p.m. or 8:00 p.m to get my newspaper but I went earlier this evening because of everything that happened yesterday."

Another nearby resident who did not want to be indentified said she is concerned about going to stores in the area once it gets dark.

"It kind of makes it hard for me to want to come up here at night because of the consequences. You never know."

Police say no one has been arrested and thre are no suspects.

In the meantime, Saldana says he's taking extra safety precautions.

'I've got all my lights on. My doors are all locked. It's nerve-racking. It's getting out of control."
