Buena Vista Township School Superintendent Dr. Deborah Hunter-Harvill tells NBC25 school will reopen either Friday, May 17, or Monday, May 20.
Dr. Hunter-Harvill says she is now waiting for the Buena Vista Township School Board to approve a reopening plan for the district.
The board is scheduled to meet at tbe Buena Vista Township School District offices Thursday, May 16 at 6 p.m.
Michigan Education Association representative Sue Rutherford tells NBC25, "The teachers are ready to get back in the classroom".
Congressman Dan Kildee has released a statement on the reopening the district.
??I am pleased to see that the State of Michigan will release state aid payments to the Buena Vista School District. This is certainly a promising development and it is my hope that the kids and teachers will immediately return to their classrooms and finish their school year.??

The Michigan State Superintendent, Mike Flanagan announced that the state will fund the Buena Vista School District through the end of the year.
It is not yet known what day the school will reopen.
Flanagan said that the Buena Vista School Board adopted a viable Deficit Elimination Plan (DEP) that will allow the state to fund the school district.
"Now, I encourage the local school board, administration, and staff to get the schools open as soon as possible for the students,?? Flanagan said.
This funding, says the Michigan Department of Education, ends the alternative plan of a Enhancement Skills Camp.
Buena Vista Schools are open for free school meals now from 10:30 am until 1 pm, ahead of the school itself reopening.
The state will release the funds to the Buena Vista School District starting on May 20. This means the district can meet the May 24th payroll.
One condition attached to the funds is that the MDE will manage the release of the funds due to the district for May, June, July.
The MDE and the district will work together to determine how much money the district will receive.
