School is out in the Buena Vista school district for good.
Wednesday night, dozens of parents and community members met with officials from the Saginaw Intermediate School District to talk about where students will be transferred next year. SISD Superintendent Dr. Richard Syrek said students will likely be sent to neighboring school districts such as the Bridgeport, Carrollton and Saginaw school districts.
The Buena Vista school district is poised to be officially dissolved after district leaders were unsuccessful earlier this week in securing a last-minute bank loan to operate next year.
Emmitt Jones, whose son will be a sophomore next year, said, â??I want my child to be in a school that he feels comfortable, I hope my child will be at a school where he knows that he can learn, and I want my child to be able to do the things that he would love to do in the school.â??
â??The whole idea is to get [parentsâ??] input on what they believe should happen to the students. Where do they think is the best place,â?? Dr. Syrek said.
The Saginaw Intermediate School District board is expected to reset boundaries and finalize school reassignments at its meeting next Tuesday at 4 p.m.
