Chaos on Mid-Michigan roads after Friday's snowstorm

A school bus was involved in a multi-car pile-up Friday afternoon in Bay County.

Parts of Interstate 75 and U.S. Route 10 were shut down Friday afternoon after a snowstorm caused icy driving conditions in several Mid-Michigan counties.

Viewers sent NBC25 video of a 13-car pile-up along U.S. 10 in Bay County.

A school bus was among the vehicles involved in a separate nine-car pile-up.

Drivers reported seeing car parts spread across the highway.

"People in front of us were slamming on their breaks everybody came to a stop. We sat for a good ten minutes and when we started rolling again we were dodging car parts. They were all over the place," said Krista Ketterer, who was traveling on U.S. 10 when the road conditions turned dangerous.

A powerful arctic cold front caused temperatures to drop below freezing, leading to 'instant freeze' conditions on major roadways.
