Charges issued in Mary Street homicide


Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton is charging a Flint man with murdering his brother.

28-year-old McConnie Baker is accused of shooting his brother Michael Veal.

It happened on Mary Streeet in Flint.

Police say McConnie and Michael were arguing about a family member not coming home on time.

They say McConnie left and came back with a gun, shooting his brother Michael in front of Michael's teenage son.


For the second time in the past week, a man has been shot and killed on Mary Street.

The most recent shooting occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday outside a home near King Avenue.

Police have identified Michael Veal, 37, as the victim. Veal arrived at a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was immediately taken into surgery but later died.

No suspect information has been released.

Last week, Darrius Robinson, 23, was shot and killed on Mary Street as well. It is unknown if the two are connected.
