City Hall shake up: Brown out, Earley in

Mike Brown

Michigan Governor Rick Snyder's office confirms there's a big shake up at Flint City Hall.

Emergency Manager Mike Brown says he's leaving that job by October 31st. The governor is appointing Saginaw City Manager Darnell Earley to become Flint's next EM.

Earley will start in Flint October 1st. He'll work along side Brown for the month of October, to ensure a smooth transition.

Saginaw's Mayor Greg Branch says City Council has received Earley's letter of resignation. It's effective Octber 11th. Branch says Earley will split his time during the transition period between Flint and Saginaw.

Still to be determined: how Saginaw will replace Earley? City Council isn't in session for a couple of weeks. It will have to decide how to quickly replace Earley. Assistant City Manager Phil Ludos resigned last month to take another job.

Earley is no stranger to Flint City Hall. He's a former City Adminstrator and interim mayor.

The only Council member left who worked with Earley is Scott Kincaid, who tells associates they worked well together previously.
