City of Saginaw sees big drop in crime

The City of Saginaw announced today that crime is down in the city in a big way.

Compared to last time this year, shootings are down 45% in the city, according to the Saginaw Police Department.

Additionally, assaults are down 21%, burglaries are down 39%, and vehicle theft is down 20%.

The department also says criminal sexual conduct, forcible contact is down 85%.

Earlier in the month the city released homicide numbers as well. Comparing the year through April second this year to last, the number of homicides went from 6 to 3. Two of this year's homicides were due to alleged child abuse while one was a homicide due to gunfire.
