Water rose enough to cover lawns, flood roadways, and bring cars to a flooded halt.
The Grand Blanc area got almost two inches of water overnight, while places like Alma got nearly five.
Speed was the key factor...storms moving slow enough to continue hammering the same spot for several hours.
Residents say a combination of construction and abnormally strong rain brought drainage to a halt.
"They have to put a silt fence over the sewer caps and you get a lot of residue coming off these vacant lots and that's what's going to happen unfortunately" says Randy Coerber a resident of the subdivision that flooded.
While the neighborhood is finishing the clean-up, people are hoping more rain expected tonight passes them by.
