Around 2PM Friday the U.S Coast Guard responded off the coast of Linwood in the Saginaw Bay for a boat in distress.
Responding with two boats the Coast Guard found the vessel taking on water.
â??There were five people on the boat, we took them on our big boat and pulled their boat with the other,â?? said Petty Officer Caleb Stephenson.
Meanwhile, a call off the shore in Caseville came in for a sailboat that had hit a rock and tipped over.
â??The Caseville Fire Department responded quickly and rescued the people on that boat before we could get there,â?? said Stephenson.
The Essexville Coast Guard Station says they have responded to nearly 70 rescue calls this year and urges all boaters to keep a radio on board for the quickest response.
No injuries are reported for both Friday rescues.
