The Verizon Wireless BlackBerry Z10 is BlackBerryâ??s first new phone with their brand new operating system. Is this the same olâ?? BlackBerry that we all know and used to love??
The Verizon Wireless BlackBerry Z10 is a completely redesigned/reinvented BlackBerry. This phone sure goes to extremes to try to catch the competition while still maintaining the great features that BlackBerry is so well known for.
The Z10 will link Facebook data/LinkedIn/Twitter/Four Square (contactâ??s photo and profile info). The phone uses more of a tab system to help keep things organized when making a call. The favorites list has been moved into the phone button under its own tab. The other tabs include the phone pad for dialing and most recent calls tabs and a contacts tab just in case it is needed in a pinch.
The clarity of the phone is good; there are no problems with people being able to hear.
The Verizon Wireless BlackBerry Z10 is powered by a 1.5GHz Dual-Core processor. It does have 2GB of RAM and the option of 16GB of on-board storage, but it also has the ability to support up to 32GB of external memory from a MicroSD card.
The keyboard takes some getting used too; it also has a text prediction that can sometimes get in the way if not paying attention when taping something out quickly.
The power toggle/sleep button is on the top of the device. The volume rocker is on the upper right side and there is a pause/play button in between the up and down buttons for the volume rocker on the right side. Thereâ??s a 3.5mm headphone jack on the left side of the top of the phone and microphone on the right side of the top. The speaker port is on the bottom of the device in the center. And the Micro HDMI and the Micro USB charging port are on the right side just past half way down the side of the phone.
Personal Note: I had a very hard time trying to figure out how to use the device. I actually had to go through the help menu to figure it out. I would get into an app or use the phone and get â??stuckâ?? so-to-speak in that particular feature and couldnâ??t figure out how to get out of it. The phone has no quick launch button, home, back, or menu. There is a swipe feature (swipe a finger from the bottom of the phone up through the middle of the screen) that takes the device back to what is called the Hub of the device from there you can navigate to where else you would like to go.
The screen on the Verizon Wireless BlackBerry Z10 is a 4.2-inch, 1280-by-760 display. It is a very bright a vivid screen, there was very little lag. The screen has a new technology, Touch On Lens, where the touch technology is applied to the back side of the cover. This helps keep the device lighter and thinner than the competition.
The Verizon Wireless BlackBerry Z10 camera is an 8 megapixel on the rear of the devise with auto focus and an LED flash and a 2 front-facing camera on the front of the phone. It has the ability to record 1080p on the rear camera and 720p front camera. Under normal conditions the camera holds up pretty well to some of the various competitions. There is no Panorama mode available as of lately but that should come with time. Low light shots are less than ideal but there are not many smartphone cameras that are good in that area either.
The Verizon Wireless BlackBerry Z10 camera also features the Time Shift to help with when taking a picture and someone blinks, so go back to seconds prior to get rid of the closed eyes.
Most smart-phone users have concluded by now that no matter the phone in use it will have to charge every day.
The Verizon Wireless BlackBerry Z10 has an 1800 mAh battery. Anyone who has the joy of having the 4G LTE phone knows that the LTE drains the battery faster then the speed of lighting, so keep this in mind. However this phone/battery holds its own against all odds, thanks in part to its efficiency of the duel-core processor that help make the phone extremely power efficient.
BlackBerry 10 on the BlackBerry Z10 runs a Hub system. This lets the user move in and out of various apps that are used often with a quick stroke and then back to the previous task at hand with a quick swipe back. The Hub keeps all conversations in one place; emails, text, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and BlackBerry Messenger.
Verizon Wireless BlackBerry Z10 features the normal pinch-zoom pages in as far as needed get a nice screen shot of bookmarked pages, and they can all be viewed in landscape or vertical configurations. There is also a separate setting in the browser for the brightness of the screen; this can be very helpful when needing to make quick adjustments on the fly.
This is a great phone and a great re-invention of the BlackBerry devises overall.
