Consumers Energy: Roughly 44,000 still without power following strong winds
MID-MICHIGAN – Consumers Energy is reporting an estimated 44,000 customers are still without power following Monday night’s wind storm.
The company said high winds knocked out service to more than 110,000 customers statewide.
Most of those customers live in the northern part of the service area.
“We’ve mobilized a robust work force from our service territories across the state to support local crews and contractors in northern Michigan areas hardest hit by the wind storm and made great progress today in restoring power quickly and safely to our customers,” said Guy Packard, Consumers Energy’s vice president of electric operations. “We appreciate the patience of our customers and are committed to continuing our relentless work until the lights are on for all our residential and business customers.”
High winds were expected to die down early Tuesday evening.
