Corvette enthusiasts celebrate 60 years at its birthplace

The home of the first Corvettes to hit the road is celebrating 60 years of tradition.

The Flint Assembly Plant recognized Chevrolet's flagship sports car in the lot where Michiganders once assembled the hot rod.

Corvette faithfulls describe the relationship with their 'vettes.

"Its almost not a car, it's a culture. Its performance is the best and that's why cross-country there are teams everywhere for them." said Corvette owner, Chris Graff.

The first Corvette was hand assembled in Flint on June 30, 1953.

The base price for the first Corvette was $3,498.00.
