A Michigan couple is expected back in court on charges of second-degree murder in the mauling death of a 46-year-old jogger by a pair of dogs they owned.
A preliminary examination was scheduled Friday for 45-year-old Sebastiano Quagliata and his 44-year-old wife, Valbona Lucaj. The hearing in Lapeer District Court will determine if the case goes to trial.
Craig Sytsma was attacked July 23 by two cane corsos as he ran in Lapeer County's Metamora Township, about 45 miles northwest of Detroit. He died at a hospital.
Sytsma lived in Livonia, near Detroit, and worked not far from where he was jogging.
The dogs were later euthanized along with another dog from the same property. The attack was the third by dogs from that home in the past two years.
