Covenant HealthCare in Saginaw broke ground today on a new expansion in order to deal with the increase in volume at their emergency care center.
Covenant HealthCare has seen a rise from 60,000 patient visits per year to 85,000 patient visits per year.
The $6.5 million expansion will increase the size of the hospital by more than 11,400 square feet.
The new construction will add space to triage, waiting areas and 18 new treatment bays.
Spence Mainlow, the President and CEO of Covenant HealthCare said, "It brings people in who shop, evaluate our community, decide they want continuing medical care and perhaps other services in the Saginaw area."
The project is expected to be completed in the Spring of 2014.
