Crews find body of man who dived into Huron River

A dive team has found the body of a 21-year-old man who disappeared after he and several companions jumped from a bridge into the Huron River in Washtenaw County.

Sheriff's spokesman Derrick L. Jackson said the team found the body of Donovan J. Hyter on Monday evening. Authorities say the Pittsfield Township resident jumped from the bridge before dawn Sunday in Superior Township, near Ypsilanti.

Ypsilanti fire Capt. Scott Maddison says about a half-dozen young adults jumped from the bridge and one of them became distressed. Maddison says a lifeguard who was part of the group tried unsuccessfully to rescue him.
