Deadly gas tanker, car crash shuts down Dort Highway

An entire section of Dort Highway was shut down Saturday as crews investigated a crash between a tanker hauling gasoline and a car with three people inside.

Officials report the driver of the car is dead after the crash that happened around 5p.m. near the intersection of North Dort Highway and Carpenter Road in Flint.

Two other passengers in the car were transported to Hurley Medical Center and are said to be in criical condition.

The driver of the tanker was not injured.

Michigan State Police were working to reconstruct the crash Saturday night.

The Genesee Township Fire Department, Mount Morris Fire Department and Stat EMS all responded to the crash.

Dort Highway was shut down from Schaaf Drive to Pierson Road.

Carpenter Road was closed from Cecil to Premier.

The roadway is now open to traffic.

Officials are still investigating what caused the crash.
