The Genesee County Prosecutor, David Layton, and the Flint Area Narcotics Group (FANG) announced today that they had seized a large amount of heroin that was laced with fentanyl.
Approximately 25 grams of heroin was seized at a location in Flint. A sample of heroin was sent to the Michigan State Police (MSP) lab in Bridgeport.
The lab confirmed that the heroin was laced with fentanyl. This is the first time FANG has had a confirmed case of heroin laced with fentanyl in Flint.
There have been two other recent heroin seizures where the MSP lab was able to confirm the presence of fentanyl in Lapeer and Sanilac Counties.
The seized heroin came as a result of an ongoing investigation, that also lead to the arrest one person.
In 2013 FANG seized 760 grams of heroin in total. This is up from 2012 when FANG seized 500 grams.
