With 100% of the vote in, Democrat Phil Phelps has 63% of the vote. Republican Don Pfeiffer took 32% of the vote. Libertarian Pat Clawson has 4% of the vote.

Democrat Phil Phelps has declared victory in the 49th State house race Tuesday night. The Flushing Democrat faces Republican Don Pfeiffer and Libertarian Pat Clawson in the special election.
Phelps came out on top with more than 62 percent of the vote with 92 percent of the precincts Phelps said job creation is his top priority and he said he wants to restore funding to local governments and public education.
Phelps also said he has his eyes set on repealing Michigan's contentious Right to Work law.
??Absolutely, Right to Work was bad for Michigan. We have not seen any statistics that there has been jobs created by Right to Work, and I think it was wrong to feed it through like they did,?? Phelps said. ??I would like to do whatever I can with my colleagues in the house to overturn that,?? he added.
Phelps was former chief of staff for now Rep. Pam Faris. He takes the office vacated by Sen. Jim Ananich (D-Flint), who was elected to Genesee County Clerk John Gleason's seat in May. Phelps?? term ends next December.
