The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is moving a southeastern Michigan customer service center to the state's new Outdoor Adventure Center in Detroit.
The new service center opens Monday, offering access to DNR wildlife and fisheries biologists, parks and recreation planners, conservation law experts and marketing and outreach staff. The area's current service center located in Southfield will close.
Work is moving forward on the Outdoor Adventure Center, with final exhibits set to be completed in early 2015. Attractions will include a kayak simulator, an indoor waterfall, an archery range, a freshwater aquarium and a simulated eagle's nest.
The Outdoor Adventure Center currently is offering live music and lawn games on Thursdays between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. as well as natural resources programs on Saturdays.
