Dozens of educators and union members are rallying on the Capitol steps in Lansing. Many are opposing a bill before the state senate that would dissolve financially struggling schools districts like Buena Vista and Inkster. The bill passed the House of Representatives last week.
Rep. Stacy Erwin Oakes (D-Saginaw) addressed the crowd stating that the bill is being rushed through the legislature. She has introduced alternate legislation that would give the Saginaw ISD more control over Buena Vista schools and avert dissolution.
NBC25's Walter Smith-Randolph is at the Capitol and will have much more tonight at 6.
