Eight in custody in Saginaw crime spree, two more at large
SAGINAW, Mich. - In Saginaw eight people are now in custody, but two more are still at large.
Police say they're all involved in a wide-ranging crime spree that includes murder and fire-bombing a house.
Investigators say 54-year-old Shlindrill Lewis was killed as she sat in her jeep.
Three of those charged in Lewis's death have also been arrested in the homicide of Willie Dawson that happened last September.
Some are also accused in the firebombing of a home on Hazelwood in 2015.
An assistant prosecutor says it's a complicated case, but feels those responsible need to be brought to justice.
"What you're seeing is a small group of people committing a lot of different crimes across Saginaw County. And what we're doing is trying to target that group of people, those individuals those violent offenders to get them out of the community to make the public safe," said Saginaw County assistant prosecutor Trevis Ruffin.
Ruffin expects more charges in the case.
