Elevated bacterial levels at 3 Bay County beaches

The Bay County Health Department has issued a public health advisory after elevated levels of bacteria were found at several local beaches.

County officials tell NBC25, water samples collected from Brissette Beach, Wenona Beach and the State Recreation Area Monday exceeded the state's water quality standard.

Officials say people should avoid total body contact with the water.

Bay County officials say the advisory will lifted when bacteria levels meet state water quality standards.
