FLINT, Mich. - Celebrating successes in community placemaking was the theme at the Flint Farmers' Market Thursday.

Placemaking communities are located in urban areas that are walkable or have bus and bike opportunities and are safe.

The Michigan Municipal League says data shows successful states are those preparing, attracting and retaining young talent, particularly college graduates who are filling key jobs in today's economy.

“This event is just giving me more hope about the future of downtown Flint, just the future of Flint overall. Because I know that there building so many different things right now that's going to benefit so many people,” said Spectacular Spudz owner Keysa Smith.

Using placemaking techniques is also proven to help increase local quality of life.
