Fire destroys popular Flint bar

When Flint firefighters arrived at the scene of JB's Night Club just after 3 am, it was fully engulfed in flames. Hours later , a battalion chief says, it's a total loss.

The longtime Flint bar is on Dort near Lippincott, which was closed to traffic while extra manpower was brought to the scene. An aerial ladder was brought in to try to save the building, but it was too late.

Initial reports on Facebook, indicated an employee spotted a fire in the attic and tried to put it out with a fire extinguisher.

The owner of the establishment, James Brown, calls it a "nightmare". He says he bought the club in 1982, then sold it in 2006. It was then called 'Status". He re-purchased it 2 years ago and named it "JB's Night Club". He says he put his life savings into it.

Brown says he has insurance and would like to re-build.

He's glad none of his employees was hurt.
