First Grader found with gun at area elementary school

A First Grade student brought an unloaded gun to Dye Elementary yesterday.

The Superintendent of Carman-Ainsworth Community Schools informed parents yesterday that a first grade student brought a gun into the school.

The Flint Township police, according to the letter, were then called to Dye Elementary to investigate.

The letter went on to say that the gun had no ammunition and it was determined that no one was in any immediate danger.

Other students told the classroom teacher about the gun, who then took the backpack from the student and called the Flint Township Police, according to Steve Tunnicliff, Superintendent of Carman-Ainsworth Community Schools.

Tunnicliff went on to explain that after the incident a school counselor was dispatched to the classroom and spoke to the children about the incident.
