Five children were thrown from a vehicle after a one-vehicle crash Tuesday around 6:20 p.m.
Michigan State Police said the vehicle, a 2004 GMC Yukon, was carrying eight people, traveling east bound on Saginaw Road in Tuscola Township when it crossed the centerline.
The Driver, Amy Lynn Johnroe, 29, of Mayville, swerved back into her lane, lost control of the vehicle and rolled into a ditch ejecting five children. The vehicle came to a rest on its side against several trees.
Neighbors wishing to remain anonymous said, police had to hold up the Yukon to get a child trapped underneath. According to witnesses, one girl had glass lodged in her arm and a young boy was bleeding from his head.
Four children were taken by ambulance to Covenant Hospital in Saginaw for serious injuries. Johnroe and the three other children were taken by ambulance to Caro Hospital for minor injuries. As of Wednesday morning, three of the children were in ICU at Covenant Hospital for non-life threatening injuries and one of the children has been released, according to First Lt. Mitch Krugielki from the Michigan State Police Caro Post.
It is unknown if the passengers were wearing seatbelts.
The accident remains under investigation.
