Flint businesses prepare for Genesee Towers implosion with party

In just hours the landscape in Flint will be much different.

The implosion of the Genesee Towers is set for Sunday at 10a.m.

Saturday night 501 Bar and Grill hosted an "implosion party."

The Flint restaurant sold pieces of the towers to raise money for the "Flint Diaper Drive."

"I actually had a gentleman in here earlier that specifically asked for piece number fifteen as his wife worked on the fifteenth floor of genesee towers back when she was young, so that was a real fun nostalgic story and kind of fun to listen to them talk about," said assistant manager, Lauren Goslee.

200 construction workers will be on site Sunday morning with 70 first responders on standby.

Cleanup of the site will continue over the months ahead.

The area will eventually be transformed into a science exploration plaza.
